What We Believe

Reach Church holds to the statement of faith of the Apostle’s Creed, and the doctrines of grace found in the Westminster Confession of Faith. We belong to the denomination called the Presbyterian Church in America. The emphasis of our denomination is on the centrality of the word of God as our statements of faith are subservient to the Bible.

Reach Church is about Nothing But Jesus. We believe that a radical focus on Jesus is what leads to a changed life.

Officers of Reach Church

Our Session

The Session at Reach Church consists of the Senior Pastor, Associate Pastors and Ruling Elders. The biblical model of leadership is probably best characterized in the phrase “servant leader.” Just as Christ didn’t come to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28), the role of the elders is to be servant leaders as they oversee and shepherd. A ruling elder is a member who has been elected by the other Reach Church members. The qualifications and motivations for the office are described in 1 Peter 5:2-3, 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.

The role of the Session at Reach Church can be divided into the two primary capacities of oversight and shepherding. Oversight means they have a responsibility on behalf of the congregation to ensure accountability of the staff to implement Reach Church's mission, vision and values. Shepherding means they minister alongside the Reach Church pastors to provide for the spiritual care and nurture of Reach Church congregants. Some of the particular roles and duties of the Session include attending monthly Session meetings, conducting membership interviews, teaching, and providing pastoral care. See our current elders below:

  • Rev. Steve Coward, Associate Pastor, Teaching Elder

Our Diaconate

A Deacon (Acts 6: 1-6), which is a word that means servant, carries out the works of mercy at Reach Church by ministering to those in need. Our Deacons assist those who have lost their jobs, those facing financial struggles, or those who simply need good people to help them find their way. We also have Deaconesses at Reach Church (Acts 18: 26, Romans 16: 1-3) who assist the Deacons in the ministry of mercy.
